Small, senior, and still here after launch.
Next Pixel Labs is deliberately small. Two or three experienced engineers on a project, talking to you directly, staying on to run what they built. No account managers, no handoff to a team that has never seen the code.
I have spent more than ten years in the IT industry as an engineer and developer, working mainly across mobile and web. That has meant ecommerce platforms for dental, pharmaceutical and apparel businesses, ERP and employee management systems for manufacturers, real-time messaging, and consumer apps live on both the App Store and Google Play — including two I still build and maintain for a client in the United States.
Long enough, also, to have inherited a fair number of other people's systems, and to have watched a few of my own early decisions age badly. Both teach the same lesson. The problem is almost never the code someone wrote on day one — it is that nobody wrote down why, and by the time it matters they have moved on.
Next Pixel Labs is built the other way round. The people who write your system are the people who run it, everything they learn is written down in your repository rather than kept in their heads, and the accounts and infrastructure are in your name from the first commit. If you ever want to leave us, you should be able to.
Why the firm exists
The split between the people who build software and the people who run it is where most systems quietly go wrong. The build team hands over and the knowledge leaves with them; the next team inherits something they did not design, so they patch around it rather than fix it. Two years later nobody can say why it is expensive to change.
Keeping the same engineers on a system after launch removes that decay. They know which parts are load-bearing, they feel the consequences of their own shortcuts, and they fix root causes — because otherwise they are the ones being woken up.
What you can hold us to
Four commitments, in every contract.
We stay on afterwards
The engineers who build your system are the ones who operate it. No handover to a support desk that has never seen the code.
You own everything
Code, infrastructure, domains and accounts in your name from the first commit. Leaving us should be inconvenient, never catastrophic.
Fixed price per phase
A paid scoping engagement produces a technical document and a fixed price before you commit to a build. You keep the document either way.
We will talk you out of it
If an off-the-shelf product solves your problem, or the answer is a database fix rather than a model, we say so. It costs us a project and earns the next three.
What we are not
We are not the right choice for everything, and it is cheaper for both of us to establish that early.
- If you need thirty developers next month, we are the wrong shape of firm — we work in small senior teams by design.
- If an off-the-shelf product already solves your problem, we will point you at it rather than quote for a build.
- If you want a fixed price for a twelve-month scope defined upfront, we will decline. That number is either padded or wrong, and it ends in an argument.
